Leadership and Management in Quran (Prophet Yusuf A.S) 

The Quran is more than just a religious book; it is a full life code that guides us in all aspects of our lives. There are 25 prophet stories in the Quran, and all these prophets were excellent leaders and managers of their era. We may learn a lot from their way of life and how they treated people. According to Surah Yusuf (Stories of Hazrat Yusuf A.S), Prophet Yusuf A.S was so talented and innovative in managing the finances of the entire empire, and so proactive that he saved his state from an impending crisis with his remarkable preparation. 

Story of Hazrat Yusuf A.S: 

ALLAH describes the great administration model of Prophet Yusuf (A.S) in the Quran, Surah Yusuf verse 55 onwards. The most prominent good governance actions implemented by Prophet Yusuf were proper hunger management measures during the Egyptian famine. Prophet Yusuf was a strong-willed individual with exceptional self-control and faith. He used future-based strategic planning to combat extreme hunger for seven years in a row. 

He promoted high crop yields, balanced crop consumption, and effective agricultural product storage. These policies acted as safety nets. As a result, even when hunger ravaged Egypt, the situation was kept under control. Egypt provided humanitarian assistance to neighboring nations. Humanitarian issues are at the pinnacle of good governance. 

The Humanitarian acts of Hazrat Yusuf A.S aided in the establishment of peaceful and cordial relations with neighboring countries. He kept all government policies in line with the citizens’ needs and expectations.

1- Being Visionary 

One must resist the urge to share one’s knowledge and abilities, like Yusuf did when interpreting dreams. He must brace himself for a variety of sufferings, including servitude and jail. According to Prophet Yusuf’s excellent administration, a leader must be visionary to preserve not only Egypt but the entire continent from hunger.  

2- Being Proactive 

Proactive people make things happen rather than waiting for them to happen to them. Hazrat Yusuf A.S was proactive in preparing and developing methods to deal with the anticipated 7-year drought. 

3- Risk Management 

Prophet Yusuf’s area of expertise in governance was catastrophe risk management. It explains that no one can prevent natural disasters, but governments can apply disaster planning and risk reduction approaches. It also illustrates the practical methods of catastrophe recovery, using drought as an example. 

4- Patience 

Patience is required when defining actual leadership abilities. If our direct reports reflect signs of stress or uncertainty, we must be able to encourage them rather than becoming frustrated. When we consider what patience is, we may say that it is the ability to maintain one’s calmness in the face of disappointment, misfortune, or distress. Prophet Yusuf’s patience was admirable; he was not discouraged by the difficult conditions. 

 5- Forgiving 

When we forgive mistakes and offer people a second chance, they can do better. We demonstrate our confidence in their abilities to become better team members while also providing them with the space to realize their full potential. Prophet Yusuf A.S. forgiven and rehabilitated his brothers. 

Conclusion 

Hazrat Yusuf A.S had great leadership and management abilities. He was highly proactive and had risk management abilities, and his interpersonal behavior was so good that he ran his state very well, planned for impending crises, and even assisted neighboring states with his exceptional planning.
